The YMCA of Darke County is looking for a qualified individual to oversee its aquatics and sports departments at both Darke County YMCA locations.

The Aquatics and Sports Director ensures the successful operation of the Aquatics Department, and serves as the aquatic expert during swim lessons, provides leadership and development of Aquatics Department staff, and ensures a high-quality aquatic experience. The Director will also oversee and promote the youth sports programs, including basketball, soccer and gymnastics.

Applicant must have current aquatics certifications OR obtain within 30 days of hire. The Y will help train the right person.

Some supervisory experience is required.

This is a full time position with benefits. Hours vary, some evenings and weekends are required. We offer competitive wages, commensurate with experience.   • Facilitates communication and provides leadership which includes ensuring 100% staff coverage for all scheduled shifts and programs.

  • Organizes special events for participants and families.


  • Must have current lifeguard certification, which includes CPR, FA, and AED, or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
  • Must have knowledge of basic swimming strokes and the ability to demonstrate each skill effectively.
  • Must obtain Red Cross Instructor certification and facilitate Red Cross certification courses, including CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard, BLS, Babysitting.
  • Must have proficient computer skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.


  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Physical ability to respond quickly in emergency.
  • Regular kneeling, bending, or sitting.

The YMCA Child Development Center is seeking candidates to fill a part-time PM Assistant Teacher position. Qualified candidate will provide quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Candidate must have the ability to demonstrate and/or show competency in the following areas:

  • Assist Lead Teacher in developing and implementing a stimulating age appropriate curriculum.
  • Conducts highest level of attention, care and adherence to regulations and operational instructions for meals and feedings, diaper changing, potty training, restroom and personal hygiene assistance.
  • Assists Lead Teacher in implementing daily activities that promote the healthy emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual growth of each child.
  • Build relationships with parents to encourage cooperation, participation and understanding of age appropriate development for their children.
  • Helps Lead Teacher maintain accurate and complete records for each child’s development, which can be reported to parents as needed.
  • Be aware of children with special needs and accommodate as needed and as able.
  • With Director of Child Development and Lead Teacher, ensures compliance with all licensing requirements and maintaining required program records.
  • Models appropriate behavior consistent with the YMCA Mission.
  • Follows and adheres to the YMCA childcare policies and guidelines.
  • Communicates effectively with parents about their children on a daily basis.
  • Communicates with Lead Teacher regarding discipline issues, problem areas, and non-compliance matters; and works together as a team with parents, when needed.
  • Helps Lead Teacher maintain an attractive, safe and healthy environment, including creating room decorations, completing daily cleaning duties, and other miscellaneous tasks.
  • Assists Lead Teacher in performing daily activities; including, setting up the classroom, conducting activities, monitoring playground activities, cleaning and sanitizing toys and equipment.
  • Assists with first response first-aid in the event of injury.
  • Performs any and all other duties that are required or that may be assigned to achieve the mission and goals of the YMCA.
  • Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings.

Experience/Certification Required:

High School diploma or higher degree in early childhood education required. Must have or be able to obtain a Child Development Associates Credential (CDA) or equivalent as determined by the YMCA.  Experience with children in a developmental setting preferred

Pay range is $9-$10.50, commensurate with experience.

Position Summary: This position is responsible for enforcing the YMCA rules, policies and safety procedures for members, guests and employees. The Building Manager also works as a Member Services Team Member and is responsible for providing excellent customer service while answering telephone calls, scanning member cards, assisting members and guests with questions and referring members and guests to appropriate management staff as needed.

The person in this position should display the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.


  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous customer service, sales or related experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills required, plus the ability to effectively address issues and enforce guidelines in an assertive, yet professional and courteous manner.
  • Candidate should also have the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Basic knowledge of computers is also helpful.
  • CPR Certification helpful

Position Specific Competencies:

  • Is a visible presence at the facility observing and taking action regarding inappropriate activity within the building, in the parking lots and “green spaces” belonging to the Y.
  • Circulates through building continuously and monitors activity in all areas. Assists members and staff as needed.
  • Provides tours to new or potential members. Promotes YMCA membership and programs.
  • Talks to and builds relationships with members, guests, and co-workers.
  • Welcomes members, guests and co-workers with a smile and provides excellent customer service by responding to questions and concerns
  • Acknowledges members needs and provides effective and efficient solutions
  • Provides security for the YMCA, ensuring the safety of members, guests, and co-workers while at the YMCA.
  • Clearing activity areas to avoid possible injury
  • Securing all doors (offices, emergency exits, main doors, fire alarms, etc.)
  • Responding to situations with the possibility of removing members or non-members who act inappropriately, threaten or present a danger to others
  • Responding to all incidents within the Y and completing Incident Reports
  • Assures that employees are following all YMCA policies and safety procedures
  • Understands all emergency procedures, acts responsibly during emergency situations, and completes appropriate incident reports
  • Scans member cards or checks by name to allow access to the YMCA
  • Answers and directs incoming telephone calls
  • Schedules court reservations
  • Takes care of regular cleaning, as needed; Reports any cleaning needs of the building, including locker rooms (checks to assure there are sufficient quantities of paper products/soaps) and other areas of the building as well as the parking lots, sidewalks, etc. to the custodial department
  • Reports any maintenance or repairs needed to the maintenance department
  • Completes all tasks assigned to them including, and not limited to, phone calls, e-mails, and initiatives.
  • Distribute equipment for members to borrow, as needed
  • Communicates requested information on programs and services, or contacts the appropriate person to assist them and provide answers to their questions.
  • Contact the Membership Coordinator if prospective members have questions on membership opportunities or a facility tour.

This position could be a part time or full time position. Hours vary, but this is primarily an afternoon-to-closing shift, plus Saturdays. We offer competitive wages, commensurate with experience. Job Description

The YMCA offers a safe and nurturing place for our members’ little ones to interact with one another and play while their family works out. This is a great position for students or retirees, and anyone in between. 


Provides caring supervision to children aged 6 weeks to 7 years in a safe, fun and clean environment while their parents are using the YMCA facility.


  • Ability to verbally lead group activities.
  • Adequate mobility, sight and hearing to effectively supervise children.
  • Sufficient strength and agility to perform essential functions of position, including the ability to lift and carry a child who weighs up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to perform essential functions which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: standing; sitting; semi-to-full reaching overhead; crouching; kneeling; carrying; twisting of the waist, shoulders and legs.
  • Experience with children in a child care facility or experience in babysitting preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Greets and engages each child and parent; communicates often and professionally with families and interacts with children.
  • Monitors the drop off & pick up of children, follows policies and procedures related to such.
  • Accountable for the safety and well being of each child while they are in Child Watch
  • Plans and performs age-appropriate activities
  • Encourages children to make friends with other children (if age appropriate) and communicates about activities and connections made to parents at pick-up.
  • Offers children appropriate affection, verbal praise, and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for behavior; sets firm limits with positive phrasing and actions when necessary.
  • Maintains prompt hours and follows established procedures for absences.
  • Completes written documentation for incidents and injuries; contacts children’s parents immediately about emergency situations; communicates to parents about non-emergency incidents upon pick-up.
  • Actively engages with children on an individual basis while maintaining control of entire group.
  • Teaches and role models YMCA character development values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and organized child watch area during and after each shift.

Greenville hours:  Morning Shift: Mon-Sat, 8:30am-11:30am                           Evening Shift: Monday through Thursday, 5pm-8pm

Nationally recognized lifeguard certification required.

Lifeguards are responsible for the supervision & safety of members and program participants while they are in the pool, whether they are swimming, exercising or engaged in any other activity in or around the water. Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years old with a nationally recognized lifeguard certification, and must demonstrate a commitment to the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

-We need a lifeguard who is available for daytime shifts,  between 16-20 hours per week.

Versailles & Greenville Branch

The Versailles position is closing shift,  approx. 5PM-8:45PM

The Greenville position is closing shift through the week, and some weekends.

Job Summary:

The Front Desk Member Services Associate staff provides excellent customer service to Y members, program participants and guests.

MSAs greet and assist all members, guests and program participants. They are the daily point of contact for members, determining their needs and offering solutions to meet these needs.

Scope and Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome members.
  • Actively interact and engage with members and prospects to determine needs; directing to the appropriate department head when necessary.
  • Handle member requests and questions; problem solving.
  • Gather and record member data in member profiles.
  • Facilitate member-to-member engagement.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of front desk area and lobby.
  • Answers questions and provides assistance related to membership rates, programs, services, scholarships and other Y amenities.
  • Prepares member records and issues membership ID cards and handles registration/enrollment transactions.
  • Assist with membership business and administrative tasks.
  • Support the YMCA’s mission and center operations as needed.
  • Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to the maintenance staff.
  • Greet all guests as they enter the facility and adhere to sign-in/out, guest, visitor, monitoring youth in the facility and other relevant policies and procedures. Report any suspicious behavior and violations of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities include thoroughly cleaning facility, locker rooms, restrooms, floors, workout equipment, etc. Attention to detail is appreciated!

Greenville- Monday-Friday, shift time can be flexible but approximately 6:30 PM -10:30 PM.

The YMCA of Darke County is hiring swim lesson instructors. Candidate should bring a positive attitude and desire excellence. Must enjoy interacting with children and have ability to lift a small child.

Swim lesson instructors will provide leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes, and should also have the ability to communicate information on Y programs effectively and positively with members, parents and students.

Experience is helpful but not required; the YMCA will provide training.

We are looking for individuals who are willing and able to lead groups in a safe, effective and fun exercise class! We are hiring for both our Greenville and Versailles locations.

Candidates should have a love for fitness and health, prior experience as a participant in a variety of group exercise classes, and some experience teaching is preferred, but is not required.

If you have a favorite class that you attend regularly, consider being on call as a substitute for that class! We can help train you!
