PROPERTY MANAGER

The YMCA of Darke County is seeking qualified applicants for a Property Manager to maintain both our Greenville and Versailles facilities, equipment, and grounds. Hours are flexible, but some evenings may be necessary, and some weekends in case of emergency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The property manager’s primary responsibilities will be in the areas of pool maintenance and operation, HVAC, and electrical work in the facility.

  • Provides overall coordination of facility maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance for facilities, equipment, and grounds.
  • Coordinates and works with outside contractors for grass mowing, snow removal, and tree maintenance.
  • Develops, implements, and documents a preventative maintenance program for all major systems and equipment in the facility as needed including: climate control and HVAC systems, electrical, water/sewer systems, pumps, and boiler systems.
  • Performs improvements, repairs, and maintenance to buildings and equipment. Operates all tools safely.
  • Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner.
  • Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
  • Responsible for pool maintenance, chemistry of the water and the safe operation of the swimming pool.
  • Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
  • Responsible for overall building security including building keys, alarm system, and overall security of YMCA facilities and equipment.
  • Responsible for the annual maintenance shutdown, including timeline development, coordination with applicable department staff, and timely communication to members.
  • Knowledge of state and federal safety guidelines including those related to OSHA and HIPAA; ensure YMCA adherence to such guidelines. Ensures material safety data sheets are maintained.

Prospective applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, stand, stoop and walk. Mechanical aptitude is required, as well as general maintenance ability.

Pay is $18-$22 hourly, commensurate with experience.

BUILDING SUPERVISOR

Position Summary: This position is responsible for implementing the YMCA rules, policies and safety procedures within the facility. This position is a closing shift, typically mid-afternoon to close through the week, plus some weekends.

  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills required, plus the ability to effectively address issues and enforce guidelines in an assertive, yet professional and courteous manner.
  • Candidate should also have the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Basic knowledge of computers is also helpful.
  • CPR Certification helpful.

Position Specific Responsibilities:

  • Is a visible presence at the facility observing and taking action regarding inappropriate activity within the building, in the parking lots and “green spaces” belonging to the Y.
  • Walks through building and monitors activity in all areas. Assists members and staff as needed.
  • Provides tours to new or potential members. Promotes YMCA membership and programs.
  • Contacts the Membership Coordinator if prospective members have questions on membership opportunities or a facility tour.
  • Interacts with and builds relationships with members and guests.
  • Welcomes members and guests with a smile and provides excellent customer service by responding to questions and concerns.
  • Acknowledges members needs and provides effective and efficient solutions.
  • Provides security for the YMCA, ensuring the safety of members and guests while at the YMCA.
  • Clearing activity areas to avoid potential hazards.
  • Securing all doors (offices, emergency exits, main doors, fire alarms, etc.).
  • Responding to situations with the possibility of removing members or non-members who act inappropriately, threaten or present a danger to others.
  • Understands all emergency procedures, acts responsibly during emergency situations, and completes appropriate incident reports.
  • Reports any maintenance or repairs needed to the property manager or operations director.

AQUATICS COORDINATOR

The YMCA of Darke County is looking for a qualified individual to oversee its aquatics department at both Darke County YMCA locations.

The Aquatics Coordinator ensures the successful operation of the Aquatics Department, and serves as the aquatic expert during swim lessons, provides leadership and development of Aquatics Department staff, and ensures a high-quality aquatic experience. 

Applicant must have current certification OR obtain within 30 days of hire. The Y will help train the right person.

Some supervisory experience required. 

This position could be a part time or full time position. Hours vary, some evenings and weekends are required. We offer competitive wages of $14-$18/ hourly, commensurate with experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Facilitates communication and provides leadership which includes ensuring 100% staff coverage for all scheduled shifts and programs.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Coordinates training in CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard, BLS, Babysitting.
  • Checks pool chemistry.
  • Facilitates youth swim lessons.
  • Records, reports and ensures the accuracy of all aquatic records.
  • Assists with program activities as needed.
  • Maintains all instructional equipment, including proper usage and storage of class materials.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program and membership standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Organizes special events for participants and families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have current lifeguard certification, which includes CPR, FA, and AED, or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
  • Must have knowledge of basic swimming strokes and the ability to demonstrate each skill effectively.
  • Must obtain Red Cross Instructor certification and facilitate Red Cross certification courses, including CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard, BLS, Babysitting.
  • Must have proficient computer skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Physical ability to respond quickly in emergency: regular kneeling, bending, or sitting.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, members, and program participants.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER TEACHER

The YMCA Child Development Center is seeking candidates to fill Assistant Teacher positions. Qualified candidates will provide quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Candidate must have the ability to demonstrate and/or show competency in the following areas:

  • Assist Lead Teacher in developing and implementing a stimulating age appropriate curriculum.
  • Conducts highest level of attention, care and adherence to regulations and operational instructions for meals and feedings, diaper changing, potty training, restroom and personal hygiene assistance.
  • Assists Lead Teacher in implementing daily activities that promote the healthy emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual growth of each child.
  • Helps Lead Teacher maintain accurate and complete records for each child’s development, which can be reported to parents as needed.
  • Be aware of children with special needs and accommodate as needed and as able.
  • With Director of Child Development and Lead Teacher, ensures compliance with all licensing requirements and maintaining required program records.
  • Follows and adheres to the YMCA childcare policies and guidelines.
  • Communicates effectively with parents about their children on a daily basis.
  • Helps Lead Teacher maintain an attractive, safe and healthy environment, including creating room decorations, completing daily cleaning duties, and other miscellaneous tasks.
  • Assists Lead Teacher in performing daily activities; including, setting up the classroom, conducting activities, monitoring playground activities, cleaning and sanitizing toys and equipment.
  • Performs any and all other duties that are required or that may be assigned to achieve the mission and goals of the YMCA.

Experience/Certification Required:

  • High School diploma or higher degree in early childhood education required.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Child Development Associates Credential (CDA) or equivalent as determined by the YMCA. 
  • Experience with children in a developmental setting preferred.

Salary/Benefits:

LIFEGUARDS

Nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification required.

Lifeguards are responsible for the supervision & safety of swimmers in the swimming pool. Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years old with a nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification, and must demonstrate a commitment to the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

GYMNASTICS INSTRUCTORS

The YMCA of Darke County is hiring gymnastics instructors.

We are seeking assistants to help with youth gymnastics classes on Tuesdays and Saturdays. No experience necessary for this position, we will train you!

Candidates must bring positive attitude and must enjoy interacting with children. Candidate should be able to provide quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Versailles Branch and Greenville Branch

Part-Time, evening positions available at both Darke County locations.

Responsibilities include thoroughly cleaning facility, locker rooms, restrooms, floors, workout equipment, etc. Attention to detail is appreciated!

SWIM LESSON INSTRUCTORS

The YMCA of Darke County is hiring swim lesson instructors. Candidate should bring a positive attitude and desire excellence. Must enjoy interacting with children and have ability to lift a small child.

Swim lesson instructors will provide leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes, and should also have the ability to communicate information on Y programs effectively and positively with members, parents and students.

Experience is helpful but not required; the YMCA will provide training.

FRONT DESK MEMBER SERVICES ASSOCIATE

The YMCA of Darke County is looking for the right candidate to be a Member Services Associate for our front desk.

Job Summary:

The Front Desk Customer Service staff should display the Y values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. They will greet and assist all members, guests and program participants. They will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to Y members, program participants and guests.

Scope and Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome members.
  • Actively interact and engage with members and prospects to determine needs; directing to the appropriate supervisor when necessary.
  • Handle member requests and questions; problem solving.
  • Gather and record member data in member profiles.
  • Facilitate member-to-member engagement.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of front desk area and lobby.
  • Provides information about membership rates, programs, services, scholarships and other Y amenities.
  • Prepares member records and issues membership ID cards and handles registration/enrollment transactions.
  • Assist with membership business and administrative tasks.
  • Support the YMCA’s mission and center operations as needed.
  • Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to the maintenance staff.
  • Greet all guests as they enter the facility and adhere to sign-in/out, guest, visitor, monitoring youth in the facility and other relevant policies and procedures. Report any suspicious behavior and violations of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.

Requirements:

  • Must have basic knowledge of computers.
  • Must be able to work in highly flexible, rapidly changing work environment
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Shifts are available 6 days a week, including opening shift, closing shift, and weekends. Part time with potential for full time. Pay commensurate with experience. Full time position has benefits.

GROUP EXERCISE SUBSTITUTE INSTRUCTORS/WELLNESS COACHES

We are looking for individuals who are willing and able to lead groups in a safe, effective and fun exercise class! We are hiring for both our Greenville and Versailles locations.

Candidates should have a love for fitness and health, prior experience as a participant in a variety of group exercise classes, and some experience teaching is preferred, but is not required.

If you have a favorite class that you attend regularly, consider being on call as a substitute for that class! We can help train you!
