BUILDING SUPERVISOR

The Building Supervisor is responsible for implementing the YMCA rules, policies, and safety procedures within the facility. This position is a closing shift, approximately 4:00pm-8:00pm, plus some weekends.

The building supervisor continuously walks through the building and monitors activity in all areas. He or she assists members and staff as needed, among other responsibilities. Our ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, plus the ability to effectively address issues and enforce guidelines in an assertive, yet professional and courteous manner. Applicants must be 18 or older.

Pay range for this position is $12-$16+, depending on education and experience.

CHILD CARE COOK

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Childcare Site Director, the person in this position is responsible for the preparation and serving of meals and snacks served to children participating in the YMCA Childcare program.  The Childcare Cook is responsible for ensuring safe and sanitary food storage and preparation and maintaining the kitchen and dining areas in a clean and orderly manner. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

This person must have an understanding of the role the YMCA childcare program and proper meal preparation plays in accomplishing the mission as well as the goals and objectives of the YMCA.  This person must possess knowledge and/or a willingness to acquire knowledge in meal preparation in a cafeteria setting.  This person must have interpersonal and communications skills necessary to interact effectively with other staff. This person must display sound judgment and must be able to work independently as well as with staff in a team-based environment.  Maintains and reinforces at all times a high standard of professional conduct that models the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Ability to respond to emergency situations.
  2. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  3. Ability to work in a standing position for six continuous hours

SPORTS INSTRUCTORS

The YMCA of Darke County is looking for sports instructors at both Darke County YMCA locations.

Sports instructors serve as the expert during classes, leagues and recreational activities and ensure a high-quality sports and recreational experience. 

This position is a part time position, typically evenings and weekends. We offer competitive wages, commensurate with experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with indoor and outdoor sports. The Y has popular youth basketball and soccer leagues and classes so these are priorities.
  • Must have proficient computer skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

SWIM LESSON INSTRUCTORS

The Darke County YMCA is looking for Swim Instructors to join our team. The Swim Instructor ensures safety in YMCA pools and aquatics areas for all members, guests, and program participants by leading swim lessons in a safe and effective manner. They enforce rules and guidelines in accordance with YMCA policies, respond to member and guest needs, provide customer service, and help maintain a safe aquatics environment.

Our programs are about more than the techniques, they are about nurturing swimming skills, developing self-esteem and creating positive experiences that will last a lifetime.

When it comes to swimming and water safety, no one is trusted more than the YMCA, America’s Swim Instructor. In fact, group swim instruction was developed by the YMCA in 1906.

Applicants should be comfortable working in the water and be able to lift a small child. The Y will provide training for swim lesson instruction.

MEMBER SERVICE ASSOCIATES

We are hiring Member Service staff to work at our Welcome Center for our Greenville YMCA location. We are hiring for all shifts, Monday-Saturday.

Member Service Associates are responsible for providing a high level of customer service to Y members, program participants and guests. They will greet, interact with, and assist all members, guests and program participants.

SWIM TEAM COACH

-Must be at least 18 years of age; have high school diploma; experience in swim team and coaching; knowledge of skill and stroke development

-Must be able to demonstrate swim team coach skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

LIFEGUARDS

We are looking for certified lifeguards to staff the pools at both Darke County YMCA locations.

Nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification required.*

Lifeguards are responsible for the supervision & safety of swimmers in the swimming pool.

Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years old and possess a nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification.

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

The Darke County YMCA is looking for a handy individual to join our maintenance team.

Qualified applicants will help maintain both our Greenville and Versailles facilities, equipment, and grounds. Hours are flexible.

Functions include:

  • Performs improvements, repairs, and maintenance to buildings and equipment. Operates all tools safely.
  • Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner.
  • Assists with ensuring that equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.

Prospective applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, stand, stoop and walk. Mechanical aptitude is required, as well as general maintenance ability.

Pay rate is competitive and commensurate with experience.

PERSONAL TRAINER

The Personal Trainer follows the YMCA of the USA Health and Fitness guidelines and is responsible for planning and leading a range of individualized or group exercise/activity sessions for clients in a fitness specialty area. They perform a variety of fitness programs that are both educational and motivational and provide guidance on ways to support healthy lifestyles and healthy lifestyle changes. The Personal Trainer also provides customer service which promotes member wellness in accordance with the YMCA policies and procedures and creates a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment. This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
