AQUA FITNESS INSTRUCTORS

If you love to get in the pool, this might be the perfect part time job for you! The Y is hiring aqua fitness instructors at our Versailles Branch. This is a part time position with classes mostly in the morning hours.

Summary: An aqua fitness instructor must be an energetic, dedicated and motivated individual who enjoys teaching fitness to groups of adults. Candidate should be able to lead group classes in a fun, energizing and safe manner, and should aim to improve the health and well-being of our community. They also must demonstrate a commitment to the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a workout based on the needs and the ability of participates and provide a visual of adaptations.
  • Teach every class scheduled through the entire session.
  • Arrive on deck 10 minutes prior to the start of the first class and have all necessary equipment ready before class.
  • Start and end classes on time.
  • Learn the students’ names as well as teaching them yours.
  • Be responsible for safety of students and never leave a class unsupervised.
  • Be responsible for putting own equipment away.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and project voice across a distance in a loud situation, while performing the workout in water or on the pool deck..
  • Ability to see and hear noises in the aquatic environment and able to recognize swimmers who are in distress.
  • Be responsible for finding own qualified substitute for any absence.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in handling issues with staff and members.
  • Follow the YMCA Standards, know, understand and follow all room guidelines, policies and chain of command of the YMCA facility.
  • Be responsible for completing and turning in accident/incident reports IMMEDIATELY after occurrence.
  • Assist lifeguards during transition times and emergencies.
  • Notify the Program Director and/or Coordinator, building supervisor or other staff member whenever a potentially serious problem is noticed concerning the pool or pool area.
  • Strongly recommended professional certifications that pertain to water exercise and fitness or willingness to obtain. Examples include, but not limited to; YMCA, ACE, AFAA, ACSM, AEA, etc. Also recommend a current certification in CPR and First Aid.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Assistant Infant Teacher (afternoons)

Summary

The YMCA Child Development Center is seeking candidates to fill a part-time PM Assistant Infant Teacher position (12pm-6pm). Qualified candidate will provide quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Candidate must have the ability to demonstrate and/or show competency in the following areas:

  • Assist Lead Teacher in developing and implementing a stimulating age appropriate curriculum.
  • Conducts highest level of attention, care and adherence to regulations and operational instructions for meals and feedings, diaper changing, potty training, restroom and personal hygiene assistance.
  • Assists Lead Teacher in implementing daily activities that promote the healthy emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual growth of each child.
  • Build relationships with parents to encourage cooperation, participation and understanding of age appropriate development for their children.
  • Helps Lead Teacher maintain accurate and complete records for each child’s development, which can be reported to parents as needed.
  • Be aware of children with special needs and accommodate as needed and as able.
  • With Director of Child Development and Lead Teacher, ensures compliance with all licensing requirements and maintaining required program records.
  • Models appropriate behavior consistent with the YMCA Mission.
  • Follows and adheres to the YMCA childcare policies and guidelines.
  • Communicates effectively with parents about their children on a daily basis.
  • Communicates with Lead Teacher regarding discipline issues, problem areas, and non-compliance matters; and works together as a team with parents, when needed.
  • Helps Lead Teacher maintain an attractive, safe and healthy environment, including creating room decorations, completing daily cleaning duties, and other miscellaneous tasks.
  • Assists Lead Teacher in performing daily activities; including, setting up the classroom, conducting activities, monitoring playground activities, cleaning and sanitizing toys and equipment.
  • Assists with first response first-aid in the event of injury.
  • Performs any and all other duties that are required or that may be assigned to achieve the mission and goals of the YMCA.
  • Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings.

Nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification required.

Lifeguards are responsible for the supervision & safety of swimmers in the swimming pool. Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years old with a nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification, and must demonstrate a commitment to the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

-Our Greenville branch is looking for lifeguards for all shifts, primarily our opening shift (4:45 am- approximately 8:00 am), as well as those with availability in the later morning and early afternoon.

FRONT DESK MEMBER SERVICES ASSOCIATE – Greenville

Job Summary:

The Front Desk Customer Service staff should display the Y values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. They will greet and assist all members, guests and program participants. They will interact with the members and uphold the member experience standards. They will be the daily point of contact for members, determining their needs and offering solutions to meet these needs. They will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to Y members, program participants and guests.

Scope and Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome members.
  • Actively interact and engage with members and prospects to determine needs; directing to the appropriate lead (i.e. Membership Director, Program Director, etc) when necessary.
  • Handle member requests and questions; problem solving.
  • Gather and record member data in member profiles.
  • Facilitate member-to-member engagement.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of front desk area and lobby.
  • Provides information and assistance related to membership rates, programs, services, scholarships and other Y amenities.
  • Prepares member records and issues membership ID cards and handles registration/enrollment transactions.
  • Assist with membership business and administrative tasks.
  • Support the YMCA’s mission and center operations as needed.
  • Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to the maintenance staff.
  • Greet all guests as they enter the facility and adhere to sign-in/out, guest, visitor, monitoring youth in the facility and other relevant policies and procedures. Report any suspicious behavior and violations of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.

Requirements:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED and basic knowledge of computers.
  • Must be able to work in highly flexible, rapidly changing work environment
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.

SWIM LESSON INSTRUCTORS

The YMCA of Darke County is hiring swim lesson instructors. Candidate should bring a positive attitude and desire excellence. Must enjoy interacting with children and have ability to lift a small child.

Swim lesson instructors will provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes, and should also have the ability to communicate information on Y programs effectively and positively with members, parents and students.

Experience is helpful but not required; the YMCA will provide training.

CLEANING CREW- Greenville

Cleaning staff members are needed for part time night shifts at our Greenville location.

Responsibilities include thoroughly cleaning facility, locker rooms, restrooms, floors, workout equipment, etc.

GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTORS/WELLNESS COACHES

SILVER SNEAKERS

We are looking for individuals who are willing and able to lead groups in a safe, effective and fun exercise class!  At this time we are taking applications for Silver Sneaker instructors for both our Greenville and Versailles locations.

Candidates should have prior experience as a participant in a variety of group exercise classes, and some experience teaching would be helpful, but is not required. Information on Silver Sneakers Instructor Certification can be found at: https://instructor.tivityhealth.com/

We are also hiring a certified YOGA instructor, and we are searching for a group exercise instructor who could lead a boot-camp style, high intensity exercise class.

Wellness Coaches provide guidance and help members learn to use the Y’s equipment and learn about various programs and classes at the Y that may help them achieve their health and wellness goals.
