WELLNESS CENTER ATTENDANT

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This part time position is responsible for providing excellent customer service to members and maintaining a safe, clean and positive atmosphere in the Wellness Center at all times.

PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES :

  • Model the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Provides a high level of personal attention to members during floor coverage through customer service and engagement, greeting members as they come in and making an effort to learn and use members’ names.
  • Recognizes and approaches new members and suggests Equipment Orientation or Free Weight Orientation appointment if they have not yet made one.
  • Assist with the promotion of any new or existing fitness programs to members.
  • Conducts scheduled Equipment Orientations to new members in accordance with procedures set by the Wellness Coordinator and implements follow-up communication to foster member retention.
  • Monitors and instructs members as needed regarding safe and proper use of all equipment, including providing spots as needed.
  • Be present and available to members in the appropriate areas during times of high use.
  • Maintains adequate supplies in the fitness center and keeps all necessities stocked (log sheets, paper towels, antibacterial spray, etc.)
  • Walk the floor on a regular basis during your floor coverage time to ensure general tidiness.
  • Assist in maintenance and cleaning of all fitness equipment.
  • Communicate any damage or needed repairs to equipment to the Property Director.
  • Communicates and/or enforces all policies and guidelines of the Fitness Center.
  • Document any accidents, injuries or incidents in the Fitness Center.
  • Works closely with the Wellness Coordinator and Y staff to provide the highest standard in member experience.
  • Attends all mandatory meetings and/or trainings required of the Wellness Staff
  • Uses time for YMCA business only. Personal activities are strictly prohibited, up to and including personal work-outs, cell phone use, personal calls or internet use that is unrelated to the position.

EFFECT ON END RESULT:

  • A level of member satisfaction as reflected in member retention, member surveys and other measurement tools
  • The highest level of service in the Wellness Center

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a health & fitness center setting preferred
  • Previous customer service experience a plus
  • Current CPR/AED Certification or will get within first month of employment

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Must possess strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess a running knowledge of general overall health and fitness as well as exercise equipment and its proper use
  • Must be able to work as an integral member of a staff team.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with adults, youth, seniors and special populations.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Evening (4:30-7:30) and possibly weekend shifts.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER DIRECTOR

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the creation, development, planning, and maintenance of excellent programs and services to YMCA early learning program participants and parents.  Must have an understanding of the role the YMCA early learning programs play in accomplishing the mission as well as the goals and objectives of the YMCA.  All goals and objectives are in accordance with the strategic plan of the association.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must meet the requirements of Chapter 5101:2-12 of the Ohio Administrative Code including: two years of college including an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or two or more years of related experience in a childcare setting.
  2. Experience in staff supervision.
  3. Proficient with computers including computer applications such as spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.
  4. Requirements upon hire include completion of: CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Child Abuse Prevention, Management of Communicable Diseases trainings, and a state-specific Rules and Regulations Overview course; willingness to complete YMCA program certifications deemed relevant and beneficial to the job by the CEO.
  5. Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills including the ability to make oral presentations.
  6. Ability to handle multiple tasks; must be a creative, motivated, self-starter.
  7. Display sound judgment, independent thinking and must be able to work independently as well as with staff in a team-based environment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plans and coordinates the implementation of all aspects of early learning programs of both the Versailles and Greenville branches. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  2. Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
  3. Supports YMCA-USA HEPA standards for healthy eating and physical activity through coaching and mentoring staff and monitoring menu quality.
  4. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  5. Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
  6. Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to staff and program areas. Maintains accurate records for state licensing requirements and coordinates agency inspections.
  7. Organizes special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
  8. Maintains accurate and adequate inventory of all supplies to meet the needs of the program and program staff.
  9. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  10. Assists marketing in the creation of advertising and marketing plans for childcare services. Responsible for creation and distribution of childcare parent newsletters.
  11. Provides excellent member service.
  12. Manages Job and Family Services benefit attendance tracking and assists parents with the attendance swipe cards and accurate tracking.
  13. Maintains and reinforces at all times a high standard of professional conduct that models the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  14. Must be able to implement and maintain programs in accordance with YMCA of the USA and various regulatory agency standards and local governing guidelines.
  15. Performs any and all other duties that are required or that may be assigned to achieve the mission and goals of the YMCA and YMCA Early Learning Programs.

AQUATICS  / SPORTS COORDINATOR, Greenville

The YMCA of Darke County is seeking an Aquatics/Sports Coordinator.

The Aquatics/Sports Coordinator position includes tasks such as:

  • supervise weekly youth sports classes and seasonal youth sports leagues,
  • assist with lifeguard duties and swim lessons.

The Aquatics/Sports coordinator is also tasked with upholding YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.

This position is also expected to demonstrate the Character Counts values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in all dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.

Experience coaching youth sports, lifeguarding, and/or teaching swim lessons preferred.

LIFEGUARDS 

Versailles and Greenville branches

The YMCA of Darke County is hiring lifeguards.

Lifeguards are responsible for the supervision & safety of swimmers in the swimming pool. Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years old with a nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification, and must demonstrate a commitment to the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Training is available to the right candidates.

*Our Versailles branch is looking for a daytime lifeguard for between 16-20 hours per week.

*Our Greenville branch is looking for lifeguards for our opening shift (5:00 am- approximately 8:00 am), as well as those with availability in the later morning and early afternoon.

SWIM INSTRUCTORS

The YMCA of Darke County is hiring swim lesson instructors. Candidate should bring positive attitude and desire excellence. Must enjoy interacting with children and have ability to lift a small child. Candidate will provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes, and should also have the ability to communicate information on Y programs effectively and positively with members, parents and students. Experience helpful but not required; the YMCA will provide training. Salary commensurate with experience.

CLEANING CREW

Greenville branch

Cleaning Staff members are sought at our Greenville location. Responsibilities include thoroughly cleaning facility, locker rooms, restrooms, floors, workout equipment, etc.

Prior experience not necessary, but preferred.

Positions available are during 3rd shift hours ( approximately 12am-5am), 3-5 days per week, and some weekends.
