CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER DIRECTOR

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the creation, development, planning, and maintenance of excellent programs and services to YMCA early learning program participants and parents.  Must have an understanding of the role the YMCA early learning programs play in accomplishing the mission as well as the goals and objectives of the YMCA.  All goals and objectives are in accordance with the strategic plan of the association.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must meet the requirements of Chapter 5101:2-12 of the Ohio Administrative Code including: two years of college including an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or two or more years of related experience in a childcare setting.
  2. Experience in staff supervision.
  3. Proficient with computers including computer applications such as spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.
  4. Requirements upon hire include completion of: CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Child Abuse Prevention, Management of Communicable Diseases trainings, and a state-specific Rules and Regulations Overview course; willingness to complete YMCA program certifications deemed relevant and beneficial to the job by the CEO.
  5. Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills including the ability to make oral presentations.
  6. Ability to handle multiple tasks; must be a creative, motivated, self-starter.
  7. Display sound judgment, independent thinking and must be able to work independently as well as with staff in a team-based environment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plans and coordinates the implementation of all aspects of early learning programs of both the Versailles and Greenville branches. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  2. Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
  3. Supports YMCA-USA HEPA standards for healthy eating and physical activity through coaching and mentoring staff and monitoring menu quality.
  4. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  5. Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
  6. Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to staff and program areas. Maintains accurate records for state licensing requirements and coordinates agency inspections.
  7. Organizes special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
  8. Maintains accurate and adequate inventory of all supplies to meet the needs of the program and program staff.
  9. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  10. Assists marketing in the creation of advertising and marketing plans for childcare services. Responsible for creation and distribution of childcare parent newsletters.
  11. Provides excellent member service.
  12. Manages Job and Family Services benefit attendance tracking and assists parents with the attendance swipe cards and accurate tracking.
  13. Maintains and reinforces at all times a high standard of professional conduct that models the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  14. Must be able to implement and maintain programs in accordance with YMCA of the USA and various regulatory agency standards and local governing guidelines.
  15. Performs any and all other duties that are required or that may be assigned to achieve the mission and goals of the YMCA and YMCA Early Learning Programs.

Teachers – toddler, pre-K, and school age

The YMCA Child Development Center is seeking candidates to fulfill several teacher positions for different age groups, including toddler, pre-K, and school age (after school) care. Qualified candidate will provide quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

High school diploma required, experience with children in a developmental setting preferred.

Candidate must have the ability to demonstrate and/or show competency in the following areas:

  • Supervising youth and presenting positive role modeling through all interactions with program participants.
  • To meet program goals as outlined in the YMCA Childcare Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • To keep confidences, loyalties and practice professionalism.
  • Be reliable and dependable.
  • Work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing/planning needs.
  • Exercise mature judgment and sound decision making.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

LIFEGUARDS 

Versailles and Greenville branches

The YMCA of Darke County is hiring lifeguards.

Lifeguards are responsible for the supervision & safety of swimmers in the swimming pool. Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years old with a nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification, and must demonstrate a commitment to the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Training is available to the right candidates.

*Our Versailles branch is looking for a daytime lifeguard for between 16-20 hours per week.

*Our Greenville branch is looking for lifeguards for our opening shift (4:45am-8am). We also have morning and early afternoon shift availability.

MANAGER ON DUTY

Greenville branch

The Manager on Duty functions as a building manager and supervises our entire facility. The Manager on Duty enforces guidelines among members, guests, program participants and staff. The MOD delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants, responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the facility.

  • Monitors the entire facility including the Wellness Center, weight room, gyms, tracks, hallways, and locker rooms. Enforces building rules and member code of conduct. Addresses incidents or violations immediately, in an assertive, yet professional and courteous manner.
  • Prior to closing time, assures that the closing procedures are completed. Secures the building by checking all outside doors to make sure they are locked. Walks through the facility to assure that everyone is out, towels, balls and garbage, etc. is picked up, final laundry loads are complete, all lights are turned off and doors locked.
  • Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y, contributing to member retention. Greets each member, making them feel welcome. Learns and uses member names and thanks them. Assists Member Services staff with assisting members, guests and participants as needed.
  • Has working knowledge of all emergency procedures, understands the Manager on Duty’s role during an emergency, and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Keeps radio on and with them at all times. Completes related incident reports as required.

We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills required. Supervisory experience preferred but not required. Previous customer service, sales or related experience preferred. Candidate must also possess the ability to effectively address issues and enforce guidelines, and to relate effectively to a diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Basic knowledge of computers is also helpful.

FRONT DESK MEMBER SERVICES ASSOCIATE (MSA)

Responsibilities & Requirements:

Job Summary

The Front Desk Customer Service staff will greet, assist and provide a high level of customer service to all members, guests and program participants. They will interact with the members and uphold the member experience standards. They will be the daily point of contact for members, determining their needs and offering solutions to meet these needs.

 Scope and Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome members.
  • Actively interact and engage with members and prospects to determine needs; directing to the appropriate lead (i.e. Membership Director, Program Director, etc) when necessary.
  • Handle member requests and questions; problem solving.
  • Gather and record member data in member profiles.
  • Facilitate member-to-member engagement.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of front desk area and lobby.
  • Provides information and assistance related to membership rates, programs, services, scholarships and other Y amenities.
  • Prepares member records and issues membership ID cards and handles registration/enrollment transactions.
  • Assist with membership business and administrative tasks.
  • Support the YMCA’s mission and center operations as needed.
  • Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to the maintenance staff.
  • Greet all guests as they enter the facility and adhere to sign-in/out, guest, visitor, monitoring youth in the facility and other relevant policies and procedures. Report any suspicious behavior and violations of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
  • Must be able to work a variety of hours including days and evenings, holidays and at least one weekend per month.

Requirements:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED and basic knowledge of data entry and word processing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and credibility quickly.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills and be able to multi-task.

CHILD WATCH

Greenville branch

Our Greenville Branch is looking to fill a part-time position for our Child Watch staff. Child Watch is a babysitting service for members to use while they utilize the Y. Qualified candidate should enjoy working with children and demonstrate the Y character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

GYMNASTICS INSTRUCTOR

The YMCA of Darke County, Greenville branch, is hiring a gymnastics instructor. CLEANING CREW

Greenville branch

Part-Time Cleaning Staff members are sought at our Greenville location. Responsibilities include thoroughly cleaning facility, locker rooms, restrooms, floors, workout equipment, etc. Prior experience not necessary, but preferred. Positions available are during 3rd shift hours (12am-5am), 3-5 days per week, and some weekends.
